Facelift and neck lift work
- Deep plane facelift: releases four ligaments that tie the SMAS to deeper structures; sedation or general anesthesia (deep plane).
- The facelift page says he performed SMAS facelifts for his first decade and then "entirely switched to deep plane." He calls his approach a preservation facelift, with little skin undermining, and a multi-vector lift that anchors the SMAS along the mastoid. Incisions are curvilinear and trichophytic (facelift).
- Neck: a standard neck lift, in which the platysma bands are tied together, is part of every deep plane facelift. A deep neck lift works inside the muscle. Gallery captions describe it as sculpting the deep fat compartment and digastric muscles and partially shaving the submandibular glands (facelift; gallery).
- Direct neck lift through a submental incision, which can be done awake without sedation (neck lift).
- Fat grafting is often combined with the facelift (deep plane).
