Facelift and neck lift work

  • Deep plane facelift. The page describes lifting the deeper layers and repositioning the underlying muscles and tissues of the cheeks, jawline and neck (facelift).
  • Full facelift. Takes several hours; scars in the hairline and behind the ear; head bandages removed two or three days after surgery. Often combined with a forehead lift and blepharoplasty. Skin is prepared beforehand with retin-A based skincare.
  • Mini facelift. Shorter incisions, 1 to 2 hours, often in the office under light sedation.
  • Recovery. Supplements, manual lymphatic drainage massage and Alastin topical products are used. Return to work in 10 to 14 days; full recovery by 3 to 6 months; intense workouts after about four to six weeks.
  • Neck lift. Fat removed, sculpted or redistributed and the platysma tightened. The mini neck lift uses a small incision inside or behind the ear, takes about one hour in the office, with normal activities in a few days and strenuous exercise restricted for 2 weeks. A drain may be needed after a full neck lift; the full result shows at about three to six months (neck lift).
  • Prices printed. Facelift: "based on statistics," $7,000 to $8,000. Neck lift: "generally range from $5,500 to $6,000." Mini neck lift: $3,500 to $20,000. These read as general figures, not a fee schedule.
