A neck lift tightens the platysma muscle and removes fat and skin under the chin and along the jawline. A deep neck lift also treats the structures under the platysma: deep fat, the digastric muscles and the submandibular glands (PMID 33543747). Surgeons add it when a neck stays full after skin and muscle tightening alone (PMID 36563673).
